Central Christian Church, Portales NM
STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Holy Bible: We believe that The Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative Word of God. God divinely inspired men to produce this written account of God’s revelation of Himself to humankind. It alone is the final authority for determining all doctrinal truths. The Bible is inspired, infallible, and inerrant. (Deut. 4:1-2; Romans 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
The Trinity: We believe there is one God, eternally co-existent in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal (without beginning and without end). (Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; Hebrews 3:7-11) Jesus Christ: We believe in Jesus Christ and that He is God the Son. On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the Cross for humankind, and atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, lives to make intercession on our behalf, and will return again in power and glory. (John 1:1&14, 20:28; Philippians 2:5-6; I Timothy 2:5-6, 3:16)
Redemption: We believe that humanity was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression, it fell. Humanity’s only hope for redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.(Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Romans 1:18-28)
Repentance: We believe repentance is the commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ, which allows us to receive His redemption and to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Thus, through repentance we receive forgiveness of sins and appropriate salvation. Every believer must approach God with a penitent heart. (Acts 3:19; I John 1:9).
Central’s Areas of Focus: We have THREE main areas where we focus our money and our energy: Children, Young Adults and Young Families. We choose these NOT because they are the only areas of ministry, but because we wish to make an impact and utilize our limited resources wisely.
Central’s Leadership: We are an Elder-Led Church. We have an active Board of Elders and Deacons and we believe these offices to be equal. They are not “higher” office and “lower” office, but rather 2 groups of leaders that have their focus in different areas. Central Christian Church Portales is completely autonomous-we have no “Head Office”-and all financial decisions are made by this Pastoral Board (Elders and Deacons). If you have any need, feel free to contact one of our Elders/Deacons and we will gladly visit with you.
Money: We, as Central Christian Church, believe in the Tithe (Our first 10% of earnings) going to God. There are other types of “offerings” that are over and above the weekly tithe. Money is handled safely and in a manner with multiple Checks and Balances. The Tithe is an act of worship, that blesses God, but ultimately is an encouragement for the believer.
Baptism & Communion: We believe in Public Baptism for the Remission of Sins. We encourage you to be baptized as a part of your Faith Walk, and we will accept your baptism from elsewhere. We practice Open & Public Communion on a weekly basis. This is never a requirement, but rather a time to remember what Jesus has done for us!
The Family: We believe that the Family is an institution established by God. As recounted in Genesis, God saw that it was not good for man to be alone, thus He created woman. God instituted marriage between a man and a woman only, thereby creating the human family. (Genesis 2:18, 21-25; Romans 1:18-28)
Christians and the Social Order: We believe in fulfilling the Great Commission, given in Matthew 28:19-20. It is our belief that Christians must take an active stand for the cause of Christ in their community, county, state, and nation. As society is not naturally turned toward the things of God, we especially encourage this active stand in all matters of morality according to the Holy Scriptures. We believe in the Sanctity of Life. We believe in the Sanctity of Marriage. Christians need to be ready to work together, in order to further the cause of Christ, in a culture that works against His Cause. (Luke 4:18-21; Galatians 3:26-28; Ephesians 6:5-9; James 1:27)
